Adding Media to Playlists

To start adding media, click on the + button on the right-hand side of the Entries pane.

Add to Playlist

This will bring up a list of all available media. To help find media easily within this list, media can be filtered and searched for in the same way as described in Searching & Filtering Media.

After locating the desired media item, click on it to add it to the playlist. Repeat this for as many pieces of media as required.

Once media has been added to the playlist, the ‘drag and drop’ functionality can be used by clicking and holding on the six dots next to each media item and dragging them to the correct position.

Media can be removed by clicking on the red ‘bin’ icon on the right of each media item.

Time Controls

Duration controls how long the media item will play for.

To edit the duration, select the duration box and select the time you want each piece of media to play for in seconds. This will only affect images on a rotating playlist with more than one entry. It is advised to leave the duration to 'Automatic' for video files as this will mean the video plays once until complete. The default time for automatic is 10 seconds.

To remove the duration and return to the default, select the ‘delete’ button.

Embargo or Expiry controls when the media item will start and stop playing.

To edit the embargo or expiry time, select the respective box and select the correct date and time you want the media to play from and to respectively. To move between data and time, select the ‘clock’ and ‘calendar’ items respectively.

To remove an embargo or expiry, select the ‘delete’ button.

Media Tags

Tags are a flexible way to set up restrictions around what content is to display on a screen.

Firstly, screens need to have tags assigned to them, then media tags can be used to dynamically control if media is displayed on those screens.

There are three behaviours to tag filtering:

  • Any: The media item will be displayed on a screen if the screen's tags matches any of the media item's tags.
  • All: The media item will be displayed on a screen if the screen's tags matches all of the media item's tags.
  • None: The media item will only be displayed on a screen if the screen's tags do not match any of the media item's tags.

Tag filtering provides a wide range of advanced scheduling opportunities. There are many possible implementations depending on the needs of your digital signage displays.

To give one example, a venue could have a single marketing reel playlist set up to play on all advertising screens. Using this playlist, tag restrictions could be applied to filter this playlist based on the location of the screens such as indoor and outdoor, or based on retailers in proximity to avoid a clash of interest with marketing.

To add a tag, type it into the tag entry field. Commas are used to seperate multiple tags.
